BOSS CS-3 Compression Sustainer Noise Decimator Mod by Monte AllumsSerial#: BB04134
For sale is a refurbished and modified 1990 BOSS CS-3 pedal, the pictures are of the actual item for sale!
Compression Sustainer CS-3: The Best Blue Budget Box
In it's stock form, the CS-3 is more of a budget option than, say an MXR pedal that's also popular. I actually like these little blue boxes a lot, but my biggest qualm with them is just how absurdly noisy they can get--hissy fits till you get it just right.
With my favorite Monte Allums mod here, the Noise Decimator, all my frustrations and complaints disappeared along with the awful noise. I replace a variety of the most important components within the circuit, such as op-amps/ICs, diodes & LEDs, capacitors, and resistors. All of this offers a very refined circuit in the CS-3 and results in less noise, wide tone sweep for more warmth, brightness, and bass as well as enhancing the upper frequencies; transparent compression that maintains your signal while removing the worst parts of the Blue Box CS-3. I am personally a big fan and I have my own Noise Decimator on my pedal board. There are many mod options for the CS-3, contact us or visit https://monteallums.com/pedal_mods_CS3.html for more information.
I also convert all ACA [12v AC] spec pedals to PSA [9v DC] spec free of charge. Any broken switches, pots, sliders, jacks, etc will be refurbished or replaced as needed.

I hope you will enjoy the CS-3 Noise Decimator Mod. Many feel it is better than a certain boutique compressor that sells for 3X the cost of a modded used CS-3. This mod absolutely decimates the noise of the stock CS-3 pedal. The two new Burr Brown op-amps just kill the noise and add much needed clarity to the circuit. [Willing to install IC chips of customer's choosing, contact us] The other request we constantly get is to add more bass and warmth. The tone knob mod has accomplished that and more. By replacing key components in the circuit, the tone sweep is now much more responsive and adds a certain sweetness to the CS-3. The sustain knob also will mix in some warmth and thickness.
Together, all the mods work to give your CS-3 near-studio quality compression at a very reasonable price point. You’ll want to leave your CS-3 on all the time. Monte always has his on, and the one on my own pedalboard is also never off--it always sounds better with the pedal engaged. Enjoy!

I take pride in my work, and you should see minimal or no amount of cold solder joints, flux, or dirt. I show the actual solder joints in the listing pictures. I clean scratchy pots and dirty jacks the best I can, reflow cold or cracked solder joints, and replace broken or loose wires. I'd never send out a pedal that I wouldn't use myself. In fact, I do use them myself: when fully completed, I run a looper through the pedal into a mixer for at least 6 hours. This is to "break in" any components, and covers any bench testing I do, as well as lends confidence that the pedal is in good working condition.
-Warranty: I warranty the mods installed for life, and can take in other repairs at cost. Free warranty repairs subject only to the modification, its parts and circuit, and my own work. I do not warranty pedals that have been opened up and messed with, and all of my pedals will have warranty seals in them. Anything not changed by me during mod installation is subject to repair fees. These pedals should last for a very long time; my quality control is strict and I would be understanding if simply a capacitor goes bad down the line.
